1970's Mary Mcfadden Couture Pleated Gown

A gorgeous 1970's dress by iconic designer, Mary Mcfadden. Done with her signature Marri pleating technique that began in 1975, her pleated gowns with hand-done details were mostly made between 1975-1980 and used hand-crafted elements including hang-painting, quilting, beading and embroidery. This one is no exception, sporting beautifully detailed diamond shaped accents at the waist and neckline. Made for Saks Fifth Avenue. Subtle small shoulder pads to really accent the pleating. *A wonderful thing to note about this dress is how it looks great worn front or backwards. Originally the design would be to have the detailed waist-line at the back, but we love it on the front with a deep V!
