The Underground Attic was started by Elizabeth Raphaelson as a student at SUNY Potsdam. While writing for a style blog as a Creative Writing major, she discovered a passion for vintage apparel, transferring to a Fashion Design program only shortly thereafter. As she studied costume history and trends of the past century, she was inspired to combine her love of fashion and history, to share them, and to make them her career. Only two years later, The Underground Attic opened its first brick and mortar location on Main Street in Oneonta, New York.

Now UA has moved to a larger first floor location at 273 Main Street in Oneonta, and ships all over the globe through both this website, and through their famous Instagram live sales!
